Risk Management
Risk Management
MARUI GROUP's operating environment is growing increasingly more complex and diverse. We are thus forced to address various causes of uncertainty, seen both inside and outside of the Company, while we work to accomplish the goal of MARUI GROUP's 2050 Vision and practice co-creation sustainability management. MARUI GROUP engages in an ongoing dialogue with stakeholders to facilitate efforts to this end. (The effectiveness of policies and codes of conduct is evaluated once a year, and these policies and codes are disseminated among all MARUI GROUP officers and employees.)
Risk Management System
The Public Relations IR Committee, the Internal Control Committee, the ESG Committee, the Information Security Committee, the Safety Control Committee, and the Insider Trading Prevention Committee have been established to manage high-risk areas. Furthermore, the Compliance Promotion Board, which is chaired by the president, has been established to oversee the aforementioned committees and to manage risks on a Groupwide basis. In addition to holding meetings of the aforementioned committees, the Company arranges regular meetings with participation by executive officers to promote close coordination. These meetings allow for the sharing of risk information along with swift decision making and speedy formulation of response measures and thereby help enhance the effectiveness of risk management.
Board of Directors
In order to promote healthy, transparent, and efficient management, the Board of Directors oversees the establishment and implementation of frameworks for ensuring that internal control systems related to compliance, the appropriateness of financial reports, and risk management are functioning effectively. MARUI GROUP has established six committees to manage high-risk areas: the Public Relations IR Committee, the Internal Control Committee, the ESG Committee, the Information Security Committee, the Safety Control Committee, and the Insider Trading Prevention Committee. In addition, the Compliance Promotion Board, which is chaired by the president, has been established to oversee the aforementioned committees and to manage risks on a Groupwide basis.
Provision of Safe and Trustworthy Products
MARUI GROUP aims to live up to the trust of its customers and continue to provide them with safe and trustworthy products. For this reason, we have established the MARUI GROUP Quality Standards, a unique set of standards that we expect all suppliers to adhere to.
MARUI GROUP Hot Line
The MARUI GROUP Hot Line (internal reporting system) has been established as a means for preventing the occurrence of legal violations or misconduct by organizations or individuals and for correcting any issues that may be discovered. This reporting system is made available to both employees and business partners. The MARUI GROUP Hot Line is operated in accordance with internal regulations and provides a venue for reporting to the Audit Department of MARUI GROUP or to an outside lawyer. Regulations are in place to prevent whistle-blowers from suffering any detrimental treatment as a result of filing reports.
Risk Management Training and Education
Monthlong Workplace Environment Improvement Campaign
Harassment prevention training is conducted twice a year. These training sessions include discussions on abuse of power, sexual harassment, and other forms of harassment to encourage all employees to address harassment issues, deepen understanding, and help foster a workplace environment that is comfortable for everyone.
Monthlong Information Security Education Campaign
MARUI GROUP conducts information security training and regular awareness-raising campaigns based on the MARUI GROUP Information Security Policy, the MARUI GROUP Privacy Policy, and the MARUI GROUP Social Media Policy. We conduct inspections to ensure that personal information and other information handled during the course of business activities is treated and managed as an important asset. In addition, case studies are used to facilitate employee understanding of matters requiring caution with regard to social media posts and computer usage.
Self-Driven Learning by Employees
MARUI GROUP provides opportunities for employees to pursue self-driven learning on an ongoing basis to acquire the necessary business skills and knowledge via e-learning programs. Various courses are available, such as a course on heightening workplace compliance knowledge. In addition, we encourage employees to take the course on addressing workplace harassment and the course on the Protection of Personal Information and basic information security during the monthlong workplace environment improvement and information security education campaigns.
Training for Directors, Audit & Supervisory Board Members, and Executive Officers
The Board of Directors arranges the training necessary for directors, Audit & Supervisory Board members, and executive officers to appropriately fulfill their roles and responsibilities. In addition, internal frameworks are in place to facilitate the provision of information to these officers. Furthermore, new directors, Audit & Supervisory Board members, and executive officers are provided with training on legal and financial affairs, corporate governance, and risk management upon assuming their positions.
New General Manager Training
Training on caring for the mental health of subordinates and managing labor is provided to individuals being promoted to general manager positions. These training programs provide information on social expectations, for which ignorance cannot excuse neglect, and help participants fulfill their corporate obligations, accurately understand the compliance-related risks facing companies, and practice appropriate management as expected by a manager.
Crisis Management Training for Disaster Preparedness
Fire drills are held twice a year and earthquake drills are held once a year to prepare for disasters. Through these drills, employees learn how to act in the event of a fire or earthquake while also practicing such disaster response techniques as fire extinguisher usage.
